Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives Bio
Marty Stuart is a living legend of American roots music. With a career spanning over five decades, the five-time GRAMMY® Award winner, Country Music Hall of Famer, and AMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient has left an indelible mark on country music and culture.
Stuart’s journey began alongside icons like Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash before launching a solo career that produced classics including the Gold-certified Hillbilly Rock and Platinum-certified This One’s Gonna Hurt You. His GRAMMY® Award-winning collaborations, such as “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin'” with Travis Tritt and “Same Old Train,” remain beloved anthems.
Beyond recording, Stuart has made significant contributions to film and television, earning a Golden Globe® nomination for his score of All The Pretty Horses and winning GRAMMY® Awards for instrumental performances of “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” and “Hummingbyrd.” He also hosted the fan-favorite series The Marty Stuart Show and remains a cherished member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Stuart’s commitment to preserving country music history led him to establish Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music in Philadelphia, Mississippi—a testament to his dedication to the genre’s legacy.
His 2023 release Altitude garnered widespread acclaim, with NPR noting, “For millions, Marty Stuart is the very image of country music—splendid jackets, musical mastery and his respect for country’s traditions and a good jolt of humor.”
Now, Stuart and his longtime band The Fabulous Superlatives—featuring guitarist Kenny Vaughan, drummer Harry Stinson, and bassist Chris Scruggs—bring their electrifying performances to Rhythm & Roots Festival. Their latest project, Space Junk, is Stuart’s first-ever full-length double LP of original instrumentals, featuring cosmic cowboy sounds with sun-kissed surf guitar, California rhythms, soul-stirring steel, and fluid fretwork.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness country music royalty at Rhode Island’s premier roots music festival.
