Los Texmaniacs Bio
Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs are keeping conjunto music alive and thriving. This Grammy-winning band combines Tex-Mex conjunto with Texas rock, blues, and R&B to create a sound that’s as vital today as ever. Max Baca is a legend on the bajo sexto (a twelve-string guitar-like instrument), while his nephew Josh Baca is quickly becoming a star on the accordion. Together, they create the lively conjunto sound that’s captivated audiences worldwide.
Los Texmaniacs have toured and recorded with icons like Flaco Jimenez of the Texas Tornados, Los Super Seven, and even the Rolling Stones. Max Baca has contributed to eleven Grammy-winning projects, and the band earned their own Grammy in 2010, plus a nomination in 2019 for their Smithsonian Folkways recording Borders y Bailes, featuring Lyle Lovett and Rick Trevino.
Their latest release, Corazones and Canciones, is a 15-song celebration of Mexican-American classics from across the US. Featuring La Marisoul’s powerful vocals and the band’s exuberant playing, the album ranges from dancehall conjunto and polka beats to romantic Tejano guitar. Each song was chosen for its emotional depth and ability to connect people across generations and borders.
Whether playing an intimate house concert or rocking a street dance, Los Texmaniacs always entertain and educate. This isn’t museum music—it’s the living, breathing heartbeat of a culture that bridges borders and celebrates a vibrant Mexican-American identity. Don’t miss their electrifying performance at Rhythm & Roots 2026.
