Knickerbocker Allstars Bio
This Labor Day Weekend, The Rhythm and Roots Festival is proud to welcome The Knickerbocker All-Stars to the stage. This 9-piece ensemble pays tribute to the great innovators of American roots music, delivering a dynamic mix of classic blues shuffles, swinging jump tunes, and deep-pocket soul grooves. They draw their name and spirit from the historic Knickerbocker Café in Westerly, Rhode Island—an iconic venue that has hosted world-renowned jazz and blues legends since the 1940s.
Boasting a powerhouse lineup of top-tier horn and rhythm sections alongside soulful vocalists, the All-Stars are comprised of Grammy and Blues Music Award (BMA) nominees and winners. The band has climbed to #1 on the Living Blues Charts and earned a BMA nomination for Soul Blues Album of the Year in Memphis.
Over the years, The Knickerbocker All-Stars have recorded and performed with a staggering roster of legendary musicians, including Marcia Ball, Jimmie Vaughan, Sugaray Rayford, Thornetta Davis, Darcel Wilson, Curtis Salgado, Duke Robillard, Al Copley, Dave Maxwell, Sax Gordon, Johnny Nicholas, Willie J Laws Jr., and virtually all the alumni of the legendary Rhode Island band, Roomful of Blues.
With four incredible albums under their belt, they bring a sound that is meant to be played loud. Be sure to leave plenty of room to get up and dance during their festival set!
