Donna the Buffalo Bio
Donna the Buffalo, a Trumansburg, New York-based band known for its original songs and covers, derived its name from a misheard suggestion “Dawn of the Buffalo.” With a devoted fanbase called “The Herd,” the group has fostered a lively community at events like the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, and The Great Blue Heron Music Festival.
The band has collaborated with notable folk and roots artists such as Jim Lauderdale, Bela Fleck, Mamadou Diabate, and Amy Helm, among others. Led by Tara Nevins and Jeb Puryear—who handle most of the songwriting—the group also features Chris English, David McCracken, and Ted Pecchio.
Past members include various accomplished musicians across instruments like keyboards, drums, guitars, and bass. Their discography spans more than three decades, including albums like Positive Friction (2000), Tonight, Tomorrow and Yesterday (2013), and Dance in the Street (2018).
